The Process of Applying a PPF

Preparing the Vehicle’s Surface

We begin a PPF installation by thoroughly washing the vehicle’s exterior to remove all dirt, grime, and contamination residue. This is important to ensure the vehicle’s paint is as clean as possible, to avoid trapping any grime under the film. After washing, we will inspect your surface for any defects that need to be addressed with paint correction.

Cutting and Applying the Film

Our team measures and cuts your paint protection film to fit the specific parts of your vehicle. This may include the hood, bumpers, mirrors, roof, and more. Once the film is cut to size, we spray the surface of the vehicle and the adhesive side of the film with a solution. This allows us to position the film on your vehicle. As we carefully place the film onto your vehicle, we work from one end to the other to allow it to adhere smoothly.

Smoothing and Curing

Once all pieces are in place, we gently push out any air bubbles and the solution from under the film. This process requires patience and a gentle hand to avoid stretching or tearing the film. A heat gun helps the film bond to the vehicle's surface and removes any minor imperfections. Your paint protection film has to cure for around 24 to 48 hours to ensure perfect adhesion.

Three Common Questions About a PPF

  • Which paint protection film coverage option is best for me?

We can help you decide which type of coverage is necessary for your vehicle. We have four paint protection film coverage options, all serving various types of driving lifestyles. The high-impact area of your vehicle is most vulnerable to hazards and debris, so we encourage that type of coverage for all vehicles. You can also wrap your matte vehicle in a full body PPF with our Matte/Satin PPF.

  • Does a PPF ever need to be replaced?

Over time, a paint protection film does eventually need to be replaced. However, this occurrence becomes rare with proper maintenance routines. If your PPF is starting to show small scratches or scrapes, or if you are noticing it is less hydrophobic than before, it is time for a new one. At Endless Detailing, we will replace an old PPF safely and install a new one to continue to serve your vehicle’s paint protection needs.

  • What are some benefits of a PPF?

Having Endless Detailing apply a paint protection film to the painted panels of your vehicle comes with several benefits. The most practical pertains to the self-healing ability of your PPF. Its flexible construction prevents defects from happening to your original paint while the surface of your PPF itself will heal with the application of heat. Therefore, defects will not collect on the PPF itself so your vehicle continues to look good. The hydrophobic surface is also a benefit, keeping contaminants off your vehicle.
